FDA Recalls Skin, Hair Products From IndiaThe U.S. Food and Drug Administration announced the recall of Swad Brand skin and hair products imported from India for religious purposes. The FDA said the recalled 3.5-ounce packages include Abil, Gulal, Kanku, Kum Kum and Swad Brand Lagan Samagri Kits and Pooja Samagri Kits. The recall by Raja Foods LLC of Skokie, Ill., was ordered because the products contain high levels of lead, posing a health risk. The recalled products were distributed through Indian grocery stores in Colorado, Georgia, Iowa, Illinois, Indiana, Kansas, Michigan, Minnesota, Missouri, Nebraska, New York, Ohio, Oregon, Tennessee, Texas, Washington and Wisconsin. The FDA said although the products were not intended to be sold for food use, the labeling might be confusing and imply they could be used as food. The Abil, Gulal, Kanku and Kum Kum products are distributed in plastic bags with a front label stating Swad Best Taste in Town Sindoor. The Lagan Samagri and Pooja Samagri products are distributed in plastic bins with similar labels. External use of the product does not pose a health hazard, the FDA said. Consumers are urged to return the products for a refund or contact the company at 800-800-7923 x 2860.Source: http://www.redorbit.com/news/health/1219992/fda_recalls_skin_hair_products_from_india/index.html Why Original Sprout is Formaldehyde & Keratin FreeHealth Canada Advisory The Issue As part of its ongoing work on hair smoothing products, Health Canada is warning Canadians that ten additional professional hair smoothing solutions have been found to contain levels of formaldehyde above the limit set by Health Canada. An earlier advisory on Brazilian Blowout Solution was issued on October 26, 2010. These products are known to be available at salons across Canada but are not generally available directly to consumers. Health Canada has received complaints of burning eyes, nose, and throat, breathing difficulties, and one report of hair loss associated with use of professional hair straightening products. Formaldehyde is permitted as a preservative in cosmetics at levels of no more than 0.2%. Formaldehyde is a known irritant, sensitizer, and is linked to cancer in humans when inhaled chronically over a long period of time. Health Canada believes that the reactions are being caused by formaldehyde becoming aerosolized during the blow drying and flat ironing stages of the treatment. Any procedure containing formaldehyde above the allowable limits places clients and stylists at increased risk. STRAWLUTION
BEAN-B-CLEAN It's a soft, safe,
soothing way to Successfully deals with the flakes and crustiness associated with Cradle Cap. If your baby's scalp has dry, flaky skin that looks
like dandruff, or even thick, yellowish or brownish, oily, scaly or crusty patches on his or her scalp, it's more than likely
Cradle Cap (seborrheic dermatitis). It can be unsightly and embarrassing, but it's a common problem that afflicts many babies. Our
product, the Bean-B-Clean™, is a revolutionary scalp massaging brush that's
a safe, soft and soothing tool, especially effective in the fight against Cradle Cap, when used daily as directed. It takes
the place of the brushes used in hospitals with the sponges on the back. Those are meant for one-time use because the sponge
can become a breeding ground for bacteria and if the sponge is removed, the brush is too pliable to get a good grip for effective
results. It's a must-have item for all babies! |
